Horsin' Around Since 1988
Growing up our father would always yell "Quit your Horsin' Around!". Its an old saying we carried with us - and represents our desire to always be moving, learning, creating with cuts and bruises along the way. Taking things apart with our hands and putting them back together. The mechanics of things. We've lived lives where we always had holes in our jackets & jeans, and bandaids on our hands. We were always breaking things and learning how to put them back together. We couldn't afford new things, so we made them ourselves.
And we never stopped Horsin' Around since we were born in 1988.
This mentality is the standard behind all our products: design it well the first time, so that it can withstand the wear of a well lived life & then some.
the founder & friends
The founder of Ranger Wood dragged a red toolbox behind him everywhere he went in his youth. He always valued individuals not for their monitary success - but by their handiness. Tools are easily accessible - learning how to use them is earned. Everything these days is dispensable. Craft is being forgotten. Stories are being automated. This business is an attempt to continue traditions, and involve individuals who are lifelong tinkerers. We grew up in an era of mechanics - where things were still robust. We learned to fix our own trucks & motorcycles, mend our own cothes and build our own furniture not as a hobby but out of necessity.
We intend to keep those traditions in building quality goods alive.
why were here
Moderns industries infatuation with profit & fast production results in disposable products, rising landfills & a consumer addicted to soulless goods.
We reflect on the Good Ol' Days - before corners were cut, and longevity lost, before form followed function. When we know what worked, when we cherished the belongings in our homes and passed them down from generation to generation.
We're old school, from the tape cassette era. We design with intention. Source textiles with history. Take time to write stories & media without artificial jam.
