our materials
Were not here to greenwash our clients into thinking we supply the most eco-friendly materials. We would rather source a textile with a proven history in manufacturing that will hang on for a lifetime than a recycled textile that will fail prematurely. We source our products foremost by their reputation in longevity and process.
Japanese wool textiles are known for their exceptional craftsmanship, combining generations of weaving tradition with modern innovation. Our recycled wool fabric, sourced from Toyoshima, continues that legacy with a more responsible approach to premium materials.
Made using recycled fibers, this fabric reduces waste while maintaining the warmth, texture, and durability wool has been valued for centuries. The result is a material that feels substantial yet refined — naturally insulating, soft to the touch, and built to wear beautifully over time.
Japan’s textile mills are respected worldwide for their attention to detail, and this fabric reflects that commitment to quality and longevity. We chose this recycled Japanese wool for its timeless character, everyday comfort, and lasting craftsmanship.
Waxed canvas is a heritage fabric with roots going back to early sailcloth used by sailors who needed protection from wind and rain long before modern synthetics existed. Built from tightly woven cotton, it was originally treated with oils and later refined into paraffin wax coatings to create a durable, water-resistant finish.
What sets waxed canvas apart is its balance of strength and simplicity. The dense cotton weave gives structure and durability, while the wax finish provides natural weather resistance without relying on plastic-based coatings.
We chose waxed canvas because it’s built to last. It stands up to daily wear, handles unpredictable weather, and only improves with time. The more it’s worn, the more it develops a unique patina — softening, creasing, and molding to the wearer in a way no synthetic fabric can replicate.
Timeless, functional, and proven over generations, waxed canvas remains one of the most reliable materials for outerwear made to be lived in, not replaced.
Sashiko-Ori is a traditional Japanese textile rooted in centuries of craftsmanship and utility. Originally developed during Japan’s Edo period, sashiko stitching was used to reinforce and repair garments worn by workers, farmers, and fishermen. Over time, what began as a practical technique evolved into a respected textile art known for its durability, texture, and distinctive woven patterns.
Today, Sashiko-Ori fabrics are woven to replicate the look and feel of those original hand-stitched garments, combining heritage craftsmanship with modern textile production. The fabric is known for its rich texture, substantial feel, and exceptional durability while remaining comfortable enough for everyday wear.
Sourced from Japan, our Sashiko-Ori fabric reflects generations of textile expertise and attention to detail. Its textured surface develops character over time, creating a fabric that feels timeless, functional, and built to last.
Melton wool has long been valued for its durability, warmth, and refined finish. Originally developed in England for military uniforms and outerwear, the tightly woven wool fabric became known for its ability to block wind, retain heat, and withstand years of wear. Over time, Japanese mills refined the material further, combining traditional wool craftsmanship with modern textile innovation.
Our recycled Melton wool, sourced from Toyoshima, carries on that heritage with a more responsible approach to production. Made using recycled wool fibers, it delivers the same dense structure, soft hand feel, and insulating performance Melton is known for while helping reduce waste and extend the life of quality materials.
Japanese textiles are respected worldwide for their precision and attention to detail, and this fabric reflects that legacy. The result is a timeless wool fabric with rich texture, lasting durability, and everyday comfort — built to wear beautifully season after season.
Walnut is a dense, durable hardwood known for its rich colour, fine grain, and ability to age beautifully over time. It brings natural warmth and strength, making it ideal for furniture built for everyday use and longevity.
We source our walnut through a trusted Canadian supplier established in 1977, known for quality grading and responsible hardwood supply.
We also recover a large portion of our walnut from surplus material generated by commercial furniture manufacturers. Instead of being discarded, this high-quality hardwood is reclaimed, then milled and laminated into usable forms for our production — extending the life of material that would otherwise go to waste.
Each board is carefully selected based on grain, colour, and structural quality. Solid wood naturally varies in tone and pattern, and we embrace these differences as part of its character.
The result is furniture made from thoughtfully sourced and recovered walnut — built for durability, individuality, and a longer material life cycle.
